Konica
7040/7033
Digital - mid range photocopier The
most complete digital system line up in the industry.
The Konica 7040/7033 offers mid- and lower-volume customers the
benefits of digital technology at an affordable price point, plus
the ability to add printing capabilities. These functions will be
available as modular upgrades, enabling the customer to choose each
option as needed, and making the 7040/7033 extremely flexible choices
for workgroup copying and printing environments.
Based on a newly
designed engine with a duty cycle of 100,000 pages-per-month, Konica
has added several new features to the 7040/7033 system to enhance
performance and productivity in the walk-up copy environment.
FEATURES:
Real
Time
High Speed
Scan
Technology
With rated speeds of 40 copies-per-minute and 33 copies-per-minute
respectively, the 7040/7033 are the first Konica products
with Real Time High Speed Scan Technology. This technology
allows each page of a document to be fed, scanned and stored
into memory virtually simultaneously, increasing reliability
over time (due to fewer moving parts) while still offering
the superior copy quality and productivity of scan-once-print-many
technology.
Real
Time
Document
Processing
Konica has taken contention management to new heights with
its Real Time Document Processing Technology. The 7040/7033's
electronic reversing document handler (ERDH) features 10 memory
partitions for storing pre-programmed copy or print jobs,
enabling consecutive, non-stop production. Up to 5 copy jobs
and up to 5 print jobs can be in printer memory. Remember
additional jobs can be spooled to the IP-402 Print Controller.
Should production need to be halted in order to complete emergency
jobs, users can select the Job Interrupt feature to gain immediate
access to the copier.
Improved
Touch
Screen
Interface
The units' intuitively designed touch screen interfaces allow
easy programming of all job functions and are the first Konica
products with intuitive jam clearance. This enables paper
jam locations to be diagrammed directly on the touch screen,
eliminating the need for users to decipher error code messages
that are routinely used to locate jams and other problems.
Job
Management
List
Monitoring job progress can be done directly from the touch
screen, which shows the order and status of each job. Users
can even delete or reprioritize jobs after they are programmed.
To save time, this feature is accessible even while the copier
is warming up.
Advanced
Toner Supply System
Copy quality is further enhanced with the 7040/7033's advanced
toner supply system. An auger placed inside the toner bottle
continually rotates the toner supply, insuring toner freshness.
The method of replacing toner was even simplified so that
any user can easily handle this maintenance task cleanly in
a few seconds.
Flash
ROM
Upgradability
Another new feature is Flash ROM Upgradability, which will
allow Konica service technicians to digitally upgrade the
7040/7033's machine EPROMs from a laptop computer. A computer
port located inside the machines' front panels is included
specifically for this purpose. Since upgrades can be accomplished
during routine maintenance calls, machine uptime and efficiency
are increased while the process for adding new EPROM commands
is streamlined.
Multi-Bin
Document
Finishing
The FS-105 Finisher features three output trays to allow users
to send reserved jobs to a different output tray than designated
for a copy or print job already in progress. Documents are
processed according to which tray they are being output to.
Tray 1 can print face up or down; while trays 2 and 3 support
face down printing and have finishing capabilities. Total
tray capacity is 1,100 sheets.
The
FS-105 supports single stapling or double stapling of documents
in eight positions. With the finisher's Cascade feature,
users can complete extra long runs of a document since this
mode has unlimited output capacity with limited user intervention.
In the Cascade Mode, the finisher automatically switches
to the next available tray as the previous tray reaches
its capacity. In addition, Tray 1 of the finisher has an
unlimited capacity when Trays 2 and 3 are removed, giving
users another flexible option while copying extra large
jobs.
Printing
and
Scanning
Options
Network
scanning options will be released in the first half of 2000.
The IP-402, the latest model in a series of Konica-designed
print controllers, will drive the printing function, while
connectivity options will support all major network operating
systems, platforms and protocols. The IP-402 will be developed
on Konica's New Operating Architecture (NOA). The NOA employs
a real time multitasking operating system based on Wind River
Technologies' Vx- Works™ platform, delivering high-performance
and extreme flexibility. For example, the IP-402 was designed
to support both page printing and document printing, so whether
users need multiple sets of a document or multiple prints
of a single page, the 7040/7033 provide unmatched job processing
power.
With the optional network scanning feature, users will be
able to scan documents over a network via the 7040/7033.
Additional
Features
The Konica 7040/7033 offer many features commonly found on the
company's higher-volume digital units, including unlimited stackless
duplexlng, intuitive touch screen interface, document finishing,
multi-position stapling, and signature booklet making. Its maximum
paper capacity is 2,600 sheets via five paper sources.
