Simitri ™ polymerized toner

Both the Konica 7022/7130 utilize the exciting new Simitri™ polymerized toner system. Konica is posi-tioning this new toner as “breakthrough toner tech-nology optimized for the digital world.” The new process for creating the toner allows Konica to con-trol the actual size and shape of the particle, thus providing a more predictable dot pattern and higher
quality result without increasing the resolution.
This new development is the outcome of years of research and development by Konica engineers. As a result, this new development allows the fusing of the toner particles to the paper at a much lower temper-ature resulting in lower energy cost and a reduction in the amount of dangerous gases that can be released into our workplaces and our environment.

understanding the power of Simitri™

The first step in Konica’sp olymerization process is to synthesize resin particles about 100 nanometers (about a billionth of a meter) in diameter via emul-sion
polymerization. Next, we chemically coagulate and fuse them in precise ratios, with additives for coloring, etc.
This unique process enables us to manufacture toner that produces extremely small colored particles of a
uniform diameter and shape. This allows an output very close to the quality of offset printing. Using this process, we can also add resin particles to pro-vide a variety of additional properties. Adding waxed based ingredients, for example, provides and oil-less fixing to enable photo-quality color printing.
The polymerized toner is also much friendlier to our environment. It requires less energy in its manufac-turing process than do conventional toners made by the traditional method of kneading and pulverizing.
